FAQs

Helpful Answers to Your Order and Shipment Questions

  • How do you ensure the authenticity and quality of your product?
8x10 Dot Photography works with the manufacturers/vendors of the reprinted artwork/merchandise in selecting the substrates, and communicating any potential image quality issues. Images to be reprinted are held by and sent directly from the artist to the manufacturers/vendors when an order is placed. Final products are randomly inspected by the artist to ensure quality production. 8x10 Dot Photography artwork and merchandise are only available for purchase through the www.8x10.photography website. 8x10 Dot Photography does not offer a "certificate of authenticity", as this can be forged; if you buy a resold (supposedly) 8x10 Dot Photography product, 8x10 Dot Photography cannot guarantee its authenticity.
  • Can I get a print in a different size?
Short answer is yes. Long answer is it depends on the size needed since the original, smaller, darkroom-printed image needs to be enlarged for reprinting and this affects the quality of the final print, the bigger the reprint is, the less sharp the final image will be. and only for open-edition prints. Alternatively, you can use the Working with 8x10 Dot Photography form to propose something specific to your needs.
  • Can I borrow the print/artwork to see how it will look in my space?
No, it would be cost prohibitive to ship the print just to be viewed; and environmentally unsound; moving the print around my incur damages and if the customer will not be buying the print, then that would be unfair to the eventual buyer. Virtual mockups of artwork prints and products in various decor settings have been posted throughout this website to give potential customers an idea of how a piece might look in their space.
  • How do I reserve an artwork print for purchase?
There is a submission form specific for this purpose, in the members' area - The Artist's Studio. Reservations are held for 30 days after the artwork product has been completed; you will have access to it as soon as it is completed and if you still want it, be able to purchase it in the members' area Christina will email you to confirm dates and your current interest....
  • What is included in the price?
Cost of the printed image material and labour for creating the product; and if the print is framed/matted, the costs of these items and the labour to put it all together.
  • How secure is my payment?
8x10 Dot Photography uses Wix's built-in payment processor to complete your order transaction, see 8x10 Dot Photography's Privacy Policy - "Payment Data". Authentication of your payment method is conducted by the payment processor provider, "Wix Payments", who operates via a set of industry standard protocols. All major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted as payment methods.
  • Can I purchase with installment payments?
No. However, if you're a member of The Artist's Studio, you'll have access to works in progress, and see upcoming items that may/may not be up for purchase in the store; this will give you the opportunity to reserve a piece of artwork and plan ahead for its purchase. Reservation is only possible for wall art/artwork prints, not for For My Chicks merchandise, see FAQ: "How do I reserve an artwork print for purchase?"
  • Do you offer volume discounts or sales?
Neither artwork prints nor For My Chicks merchandise will be marked down for sale since the best price possible is always offered to the buyer. Pricing of each product is carefully calculated, based on cost of production, and adjusted according to market conditions and current condition of the product. For buyers who are patrons, or a potential customer who will be making a large order of artwork prints or For My Chicks merchandise: a volume discount may be offered each situation is unique as each buyer and will be evaluated as such through private discussion between the potential customer and 8x10 Dot Photography.
  • Who receives the donations from the sale of For My Chicks products?
Various non-profit organizations. To keep things fair and to "share the wealth", organizations with a focus on birds habitat conservation/restoration will be selected for donations(s) based on where most of the sales occur: for example, let's say 100 cushions were sold, of that, 70 were sold in the United Stated and 30 were sold in Canada, then the United States organization would receive the net profit associated with 70 cushions and the Canadian organization would receive the net profit from the sale of 30 cushions.
  • Why did my order payment fail?
This is never pleasant; the most common reasons are: typos when entering payment details fraud prevention maybe something did not match those assigned to the payment method missing number(s) from address, credit card, CVV, expiry date. Restrictions or limitations placed on the payment method, double check with your bank/card issuer. Network/internet connection issues during the payment transaction process check that your web browser and internet connections are secure, and retry.
  • Why did you cancel my order?
There are a few reasons why this may happen: Most of the prints and products offered are in limited editions, the item(s) maybe sold out. The manufacturer may be unable to produce the ordered item(s) due to lack of supplies or labour issues, for which a replacement manufacturer cannot be found. Changes in import and manufacturing laws affecting shipment to your region/country. Denial of service by the host of this website or other 3rd party SaaS providers. You will be refunded for any order(s) directly cancelled by 8x10 Dot Photography.
  • Do you offer refunds?
No. Unless there are proven damages, so take your time reviewing the product you have in mind and your ship-to details. Also, let's consider our carbon-footprint and not encourage the preventable transportation of goods; for this reason, product images are posted without any 'corrections' so that you can see the truest representation of the merchandise/artwork that you'll be receiving. I'm always happy to answer your questions regarding a product, before you decide to purchase; there is no obligation to purchase a piece of artwork or merchandise if you ask questions about it, and 8x10 Dot Photography will not send you email prompts or reminders regarding your inquiry.
  • How much is shipping, is it free?
No. As a small supplier, 8x10 Dot Photography cannot afford to offer free shipping; however, as a smaller supplier, taxes (VAT/State/Federal) for most countries will not apply to your order. Shipment rates vary by regions/countries, so you will see different shipping costs for the same product. 8x10 Dot Photography does not markup shipment costs that it is charged; cost is rounded up to the nearest dollar for ease of accounting. The receiver of the order will be responsible for any customs/duty charges, in accordance with their country's policies. Shipment cost include: packing materials for the order, to ensure it's secure, or custom-built crates for larger artwork/print orders; carrier costs for transporting the package; and any applicable tax(es), according to the customer's country laws.
  • Where do you ship/sell to?
See the Countries Currently Shipping To page: more countries may be added once I've navigated international/remote seller's tax requirements for each country, also, some countries may be removed as laws change. If you're unable to place an order for shipment: it may be that your region/country has not yet been setup for shipment, pending tax registration; not shipping to that country because taxation rules for nonresident ecommerce businesses are not clear, unnecessarily burdensome, or are in-progress; it may be due to Canada's (home of 8x10 Dot Photography) trade sanctions against your country; it may be due to your country's import prohibitions or restrictions; it may be because of restrictive shipment charges.
  • Where do I include my location's delivery restrictions?
8x10 Dot Photography is not able to capture special delivery instructions during your ordering process. It may be possible to contact the carrier (especially if you already have an account with them), once you have been provided with the shipment tracking number, to advise of any special delivery requirements; however, there is to guarantee the shipper/transportation provider will transfer/read/act on your instructions.
  • How long will it take to receive my order?
Within North America, it may take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to receive your order; most of manufacturers are located within mid-eastern United States and Canada, if your delivery location is close to one of these areas, then the delivery time should be less. For countries outside of North America, it can take anywhere between 3 to 5 weeks. You will be provided with a tracking number for the carrier, once the order has been received by the transportation provider. Keep in mind, these timelines may vary due to: Remote locations that are not often serviced by transporters Inclement weather or strike, slowing down transporters Some countries' port of entry (customs) regulations Other blockage in the transportation pipeline Sometimes there are high volume of orders that the manufacturer need to produce, adding a few extra days in the wait time, if this is the case, you will be notified.
  • Can I change/cancel the order or the ship-to-address?
You may be able to, depending on when: After you have placed your order online, 8x10 Dot Photography is notified of a pending order, at which time, 8x10 Dot Photography will review your product requirements and authorized the manufacture to produce and ship the order; This process can take about 24 - 48 hours, if you notify 8x10 Dot Photography within 24 - 48 hours of your order placement, your change or cancellation request may be accommodated you will be notified if your request is possible or not.
  • My order arrived damaged/incorrect quantity, what now?
As soon as you've received the package(s) and before opening: take pictures, as documentation; save the packaging for inspection by the carrier, if necessary. Once you have opened the package(s): take some pictures of the print(s)/merchandise, the quantity and condition of arrival; take pictures from various angles of the actual artwork print/merchandise; if damaged, compare the area(s) damaged on the print/merchandise to any damage(s) on the package, and take pictures of all areas, we need to know who was responsible for the damage(s), the carrier or production, in order to file a claim for reimbursement or replacement product. Email the pictures you have taken, with a description of the issue(s), to 8x10 Dot Photography: you can reply to your order communication email within 48 hours of receiving your order 8x10 Dot Photography will then report the issue(s) to the manufacturer/vendor of the product for a resolution. 8x10 Dot Photography will update you of the progress via email communication.
